Auschwitz Album

The album is 65 years old, dating back to May 1944. This document shows the arrival at Auschwitz of Hungarian Jews, the descent from the train cars, the confiscation of all personal belongings, the forced breakup of families, the selection of those who would head straight to the gas chambers and those who would work as slave laborers in the camp.
The ones selected for the gas chambers were told they would take a bath and undergo disinfection. The album presents a few snapshots of the last moments of those sent to their deaths.
This album was donated to the Holocaust Museum Yad Vashem and is published on the Yad Vashem website. It is the only Auschwitz album that survived the war. It remains as relevant now as it was back then.
